Scribology

The inaugural edition of the capital's newest annual multi-arts showcase, Scribology, takes over the Library and Archives Canada Auditorium on Friday, February 27 at 7 p.m.

Presented by Cytopoetics and 10milligram promotions, Scribology is an annual spoken word and music concert series that exposes Ottawa to the very best in poetry & music fusion. Come and discover the earthy, political force in the work of Ottawa's Young Griot Collective (YGC). Be amazed by the on-the-spot live organic improv of Montreal-based Kalmunity Vibe Collective. And tap along to Canadian Folk Music Award nominated band The Fugitives from Vancouver. The event promises to be a special, groundbreaking night for Ottawa both for music and spoken word. You don't want to miss out!

Scribology will be hosted by CBC Radio One personality and long-time Ottawa spoken word supporter Alan Neal.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show gets underway at 7 p.m. SHARP!

Early bird ticket sales are now underway until February 10, so get your tickets early and save! Tickets can be purchased online ($20 early bird and $25 in advance) through Ticketpro at http://ww2.ticketpro.ca/event.php?event_id=184.

Tickets can also be purchased in person at two upcoming Cytopoetics shows -- Talented Tongues on February 15 (7:30 p.m. @ Elmdale House Tavern, featuring Amanda Earl, Ritallin and Luna Allison) and Bill Brown's 1-2-3 Slam on February 19 (8 p.m. @ Umi Cafe, hosted by Ritallin and YGC vocalist Hyfidelik).

We invite the entire Ottawa community to come and take part in this exciting new development, which is part of the explosion in spoken word poetry that has made Ottawa one of Canada's hotbeds for performance poetry!
